If we are complacent, we can just spend our lives taking the ‘easy way’ out …. just follow the crowd, listen to the mass media, do what others are doing, or what we’ve always done, not even considering our actions.
But, maybe there is another way, a better way. Maybe we need to look beneath the surface to find out what’s really going on… to take the reins and take responsibility for our own lives. I have found this path to be much more fulfilling and life-giving. And I know from experience, that while it requires more of you, it also makes you stronger and more resilient.
This conversation could go in so many directions! For now, I’m going to take it to women’s health .. specifically women and moms who are feeling depleted, tired, and tapped out. I’d say the common answer is that’s just the way it is, or coffee is the answer to get going in the morning and coffee and sugar to keep you going all day, and maybe some wine to wind down at night so you can sleep and do it all over again. Does that cycle really serve you? Is it sustainable? Or are you just sticking your finger in the dam to plug the energy leaks so you can keep going, but eventually you’re not going to be able to hold off the flood?
What our society is doing with caffeine, sugar, and alcohol is just sticking fingers in the dam, trying to plug the leaks. We’re using these as fuel for our bodies, but at what cost? We are not human do-ings, we are human be-ings. So we cannot fuel our lives with caffeine, sugar, and alcohol and expect that our bodies will just keep running, like a machine. However, if we take the time to learn what’s really going on inside our bodies, how our bodies work, we learn what truly does sustain us, and really serve and build up our bodies, so that we can live vital, radiant lives, even in the busy seasons of motherhood.
In May, my Centered Circle class will be exploring adrenal fatigue. We’ll learn about how connected our bodies are to our minds, and how tapping into what’s going through your mind all day long mirrors what’s happening with the hormones in our bodies.
Ideally, when we’re in that sweet, vital spot we can have both high energy and access to calm and restoration .. but when we are experiencing adrenal fatigue or burnout, we go into one or the other of these extremes, and tend to ping pong between them. When we heal from the inside out we enter a place where we have access to true energy and true calm and feel like we can tap into what we truly need throughout the day.
Here’s a little peek into our class time together .. we always start with some type of relaxing, centering activity .. maybe a meditation, doodling, breathing exercise, drawing, etc. Then we start talking about the topic of the month and learn more about how our bodies were designed to work, and learn practical tools so that we can work WITH the way our body was designed. We apply what we’re learning to our own lives, and share our personal experiences, to be seen and heard by the group. We know that we are not alone. We are not the only ones with this experience. And we become stronger together.
Come visit our Centered Circle class. We meet just once a month, and explore stress resiliency from all different angles .. a new one each month. You can start at any time, and then journey through the twelve topics. Bring a friend along too!
We’re meeting on Monday, May 2 from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at Patina Coffeehouse, 610 Washington Street, Wausau, WI. (Is it ironic that we meet at a coffee house?? I don’t think so .. I’m not saying that there’s not a place for coffee in our lives .. but when coffee is a crutch, an addiction to get us through our days, that is an issue.) There is no charge for the first class. If you can’t attend in person, you can still participate virtually, so drop me an email to ursa <at> oneradiantlife.com and I will send you the class via audio recording. Are you ready to take that first step .. to start taking the reins of your own life?
